Live-action Harry Potter announcement has fans divided

Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and all the much-beloved (and some hated) characters of the Harry Potter universe have a special place in many people's hearts.

They even served as constant companions for generations and generations of kids, reading these fantasy novels almost religiously and who grew up side-by-side with the actors in the movies.

That's why 2020 was considered quite a gut-wrenching year for the franchise.

Johnny Depp was asked to resign from the 'Fantastic Beasts' trilogy because of the allegations made against him by his former wife, Amber Heard.

But it was the author of these iconic novels that caused the most hurt.

J.K Rowling offended almost every 'Harry Potter' fan when she took to Twitter to make a bunch of comments towards the transgender community that was viewed as highly insensitive.

Her behaviour has left many fans in an uncomfortable position as they do not wish to support her in any way but they still love the story she created.

With the latest HP announcement, fans are once again divided.

According to multiple sources, the seven novels are getting a live-action television series makeover!

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to break the news that the streaming service HBO Max is consulting with many different writers as they try to figure out the best possible way to now translate these books to television.

There are no clear and definitive plans as of yet and they are still only in the planning stages.

Although nothing has been set in stone, Twitter has exploded as Potterheads struggle with wanting more HP content but simultaneously would rather want something new than something reworked.

Some of these alternative reboot/spin-off ideas are actually pretty brilliant!

But if there is anything the fans of well-known and beloved series and movies have learned, it's that nobody creating the series ever really listens to the fans.

Hopefully, if there is a Harry Potter series in the works, it will follow in the steps of all the successful, non-disappointing reboots.
