Prince's ex-girlfriend confirms new movie about their relationship

Sheila E had a brief romantic relationship with one of the most legendary singers to ever walk this Earth... and now she's turning it into a biopic.

It has been five years since Prince passed away but his spirit, very clearly, still lives on.

Through his music, he still touches the lives of many, daily, and he is considered one of the greatest musicians of all time.

Although he was more than just a guitar player, he was also known for his acting skills, but since his passing, no-one has made any attempts at telling the artist's life story through a motion picture.

It might have been out of respect for Prince, not wanting to take artistic liberty with his life, or that no-one really knew enough about the artist to create a full, tell-all type film (unlike 'Bohemian Rhapsody').

Whatever the reason may be, the only movies that remain of Prince are the ones he portrayed a character in.

Until now.

Sheila E is another very well-known artist, and self-proclaimed 'Queen of Percussion', who played alongside Prince and was lucky enough to grace the same stages as him.

She was also involved in a romantic relationship with him.

NME.com says that after her bands became Grammy-nominated, they were very much on Prince's radar and they joined him on the road as his opening act during the 'Purple Rain' Tour.

And that is where the love story began.

Now she has announced that she is currently working on a movie that tells the story of their love affair.

She hasn't revealed much or given any other details other than the name of the movie, 'Girl Meets Boy', and that it will be about their relationship.

Although they were no longer together, according to her, the pair remained close and were frequent collaborators until the day Prince died.

During an interview with The Guardian, she opened up about their work together and said that they had hundreds and hundreds of unreleased songs.

Prince fans are a bit divided about the movie news, because it was believed that the two had a falling out and were no longer friends.

All that fans can really hope for is that the movie honours the memory of the artist and isn't just a sensational drama.

But at the end of the day, we can all just take a page out of Prince's book and keep the following in mind: "I don’t really care so much what people say about me because it usually is a reflection of who they are."
