Miss South Africa withdraws from Miss Supranational 2025
Updated | By Entertainment Reporter
Reigning Miss South Africa Mia Le Roux will miss out on another international pageant.

Miss South Africa officials have announced they will not send a contestant to Miss Supranational 2025.
They shared the shocking news on the pageant's official Instagram page.
"With heartfelt gratitude to our incredible fans, we share that Miss South Africa will not participate in the Miss Supranational 2025 competition, set for June in Poland," the statement read.
"We wish the Miss Supranational Organisation a spectacular event."
Fans expected Miss South Africa 2024, Mia Le Roux, or runner-up Nompumelelo Maduna, to represent SA.
Le Roux, who is deaf, became the first differently abled person to win the beauty pageant.
She went on to compete in Miss Universe in November last year but pulled out of the ceremony due to poor health.
The latest announcement means Miss SA will not bring any international crowns home during Le Roux's reign.
Contestants were not able to compete in the Miss World pageant.
Businesswoman Carol Bouwer bought the Miss World South Africa licence a few years ago, meaning someone from her pageant is sent to the competition.
Miss South Africa officials did not share further details about why they withdrew from Miss Supranational.
However, Miss South Africa 2010 Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala announced a few hours before that she was the new director of Miss Supranational South Africa.
Like Miss World South Africa, Miss Supranational South Africa will be selected at a different pageant.
"We are proud to announce an incredible journey to unfold, and a platform for change, impact, inspiration and women empowerment," a statement on her Instagram page read.
"Welcome to the new age of the #supraexperience! Stay tuned, as we find out, WHO will be crowned the new Miss Supranational South Africa 2025 and represent our beautiful country this June, in Malopolska, Poland."
Miss South Africa has fared well at all three international pageants.
Demi-Leigh Tebow (née Nel-Peters) was crowned Miss Universe in 2017, while Zozibini Tunzi wore the crown in 2019.
Miss South Africa 2018 Tamaryn Green Nxumalo placed first runner-up.
Richards Bay beauty Lalela Mswane became the first black woman to win Miss Supranational in 2022, while Miss South Africa first-runner-up Bryoni Govender was crowned Miss Supranational Africa in 2024.
Miss South Africa 2014 Rolene Strauss was the last South African to win the Miss World pageant.
