WATCH: Man receives birthday cake with a R140k surprise gift inside

When you're a kid, there is nothing more fun than inviting all your friends to your super cool birthday party, eating cake, and, of course, receiving those presents.

But as we mature, our birthday parties mature with us. Wild parties become civilised dinners and sometimes you might even not chose to celebrate your birthday at all.

One part of the celebrations that never gets old though is the gift-giving and receiving. It's the one day a year where you can unapologetically ask for whatever you want, and even though you might not receive everything your heart desires, you at least know you did shoot your shot and there might have been a chance, even the tiniest one, that you end up that expensive thing you have had your eye on.

There also might come a point in your life where you realise the following: money is the best gift.

This might sound very golddiggery, but hear us out, you can make sure you buy exactly what you want/need and you can put all the money together to really treat yourself to something nice you might have had your eye on.

One couple caught everyone's attention when a video was posted on social media showing a man celebrating his birthday and blowing out his birthday cake candles. His wife decided to surprise him with his gift that was strategically stashed inside the cake.

After blowing out the candles, she instructs him to remove the numbers on top of the cake.

As he does this something else starts coming out of the cake.

That continuous string of $100 notes is quite lengthy and finally, in the end, it added up to a massive $10,000 (R140,000).

The recipient's wife had decided she wanted to treat her husband by stacking a bunch of $100 bills into the cake and hopefully surprise him.

We would say mission accomplished!

He thanked her by writing the following caption on an Instagram post and honestly, we're pretty much convinced that this is couple goals:

She definitely set the bar high.

Wonder how she'll be outdoing herself next year. A Rolex in a birthday cake? $11,000 in a birthday cake?

Just like her husband we'll just have to wait and see.
