The decision on Housten's bail application comes after Magistrate, Jackie Jonck ruled that he failed to prove exceptional circumstances that would warrant his release on bail.

He and Darryl Murrisson stand accused of shooting dead 32-year-old Bianca Parsons in full view of her young daughter at a petrol station in February in an apparent case of mistaken identity.

Murrisson has indicated he will admit guilt but Housten maintains he had nothing to do with the murder and only drove the car.

During closing arguments, Housten's lawyer, Ridwaan Sayed told the court police have no evidence that Housten provided the firearm to Murrisson

In court, there a was a sigh of relief from Parsons' family when Magistrate Jonck ruled that Housten would remain behind bars.

They got up and hugged each other with tears rolling down their faces.

Magistrate Jonck says it is clear from the CCTV footage that Housten was in possession of a firearm which he has not yet handed over to police.

She says Housten can't be released as the alleged intended target of the shooting is still out there and fearing for their life.

Bianca Parsons' husband, Orsen was not in court today but relatives phoned him immediately afterwards to tell him about the bail outcome.

Housten will be back in court alongside Darryl Murrisson later this month.
