A way to catch mosquitoes that looks like fun

A way to catch mosquitoes that looks like fun

We know it's winter, and in many areas, mosquitoes are hibernating, but not everyone is sleeping peacefully.

One of the great things about social media is that we can learn from people around the world. We learn about the things they eat, how they live and the hacks they grew up with.

In KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), we have our fair share of annoying bugs, especially mosquitoes. But we use mosquito coils, citronella candles, incense sticks, and mosquito repellents that plug into the wall. Even with all that, we sometimes get woken up to the buzzing sound of a mosquito on the hunt.

A German man who married a Filipina woman shared an interesting hack that she grew up with, which involves catching mosquitoes with a plate.

In the video shared on social media, the woman is seen walking around the lounge with a plate, which she uses as a fly swatter. When her husband asks her what she is doing, she explains that she is catching mosquitoes.

She shows him the plate smeared with oil, covered with dead mosquitoes that have met their fate with her method of mass destruction.

"After 3 years in Butuan City, Mariel still surprises me with Filipino wisdom! This traditional mosquito trap method has been passed down through generations, and honestly... it works better than anything I brought from Germany!" he says.
