China issues weather warning to people under 50kg
Updated | By Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
Where you might secure your garden furniture during a powerful windstorm, some people in China needed to secure themselves from being blown away by strong winds.

We've become prone to receiving weather warnings recently, with many of these warnings being high priority.
While the warnings may not necessarily apply to all parts of KZN, it is always good to stay informed and prepare for the worst. Our province has been hit hard over the last few years by flooding and tornadoes, and it hasn't been easy to recover from the damage and heartache caused by these natural disasters.
These events are a stark reminder that everyone is vulnerable to the forces of nature.
In other parts of the world, China has taken things a step further when it comes to weather warnings when it recently urged residents who weighing 50kg or less to stay indoors.
The winds reached speeds of 168km/h, and while people are always encouraged to seek refuge indoors during storms, this particular warning got some online attention.
The reason for the warning became apparent after a video shared on social media showed what happened to some people who are in the lighter side and at risk of being blown away.

Many people came to social media to poke fun at the warning, and while the warning was no joke, the idea surely got people lighthearted.
- "Hey boss. Can't come to work today. Too small. Will blow away."
- "The way I’ll go out so that people know I'm below 50 kg."
- "Imagine calling in skinny to work lmao."
- "So, obesity is a safety measure in these apocalyptic times. Got it."
- "At 49.4kg, it would be tough to resist the urge just to step outside and see if I can really fly."
- "I can confirm this warning is valid - I was once blown into the air in NYC in a snowstorm (I’m under 50kg)."
- "A good time to appreciate being plus size."
