Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Five families whose homes were destroyed during the heavy rains that lashed Durban this week have been moved to temporary accommodation.
The KZN Human Settlements has assisted 16 people from Umlazi, whose houses collapsed during a mudslide in P section on Friday.
Six people were injured.
"There are seven community members who will still be accommodated. Together with the Mayor of eThekwini Cllr Cyril Xaba and Ward 85 Cllr Sphelele Nene will continue to be on the side of affected communities," says the Department's Ndabezinhle Sibiya.
He says teams are still assessing the damage.
"In addition, there is a team that the MEC assigned to visit affected families in Umlazi."
