A water shortage isn't the only issue recently putting people in a bind. There is also a shortage of patience.

Many people around parts of KZN have felt the effects on both their mental health and physical well-being when left without water. We are not out of the woods yet, but seeing how Durbanites approach the unstable water situation is always inspiring.

South Africans, as a nation, tend to be resilient at best. We have a way of picking ourselves up and moving forward from many unpleasant situations. We are driven by a will to find solutions and, of course, a determination to make our lives better.

A Durban woman praised her friends and their innovative approach to living with the uncertain water supply issues.

Stacey Vermeulen called her friend's solution: "the most awesome camping shower set up. Welcome to Durban, guys. This is way better than our bucket shower set up..."

The friends were fully equipped for a shower, but not just any shower, a warm shower. They had their camping shower hooked up to a gas cylinder, allowing them to have a hot shower. While this may be innovative, a registered gas installer piped in, saying this set up was dangerous and advised against it.

The response from people around Durban was surprising. One person wrote, "I must live in the wrong Durban, I've never experienced any water or electricity."

Another wrote, "I'm confused. Where in Durbs?"

Werner from the South Coast wrote, "Jojo tank and booster pump. We learned a long time ago on the south coast. Every week, we are without water for a few days."
