Woman drowns after slipping off rocks at Margate beach

There has been a drowning incident on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast this morning.
Reports from the scene are that a woman, who appeared to have been in her thirties, had been walking on the rocks when she slipped and fell into the water near Margate's North Beach.

Lifeguards responded and pulled her from the water.Rescuers carried her back to shore and found that she was unresponsive.

Netcare911's Shawn Herbst confirmed that the woman had also stopped breathing."Medics began a full Advanced Life Support resuscitation, but her condition deteriorated rapidly," said Herbst.
Herbst says she was declared dead at the scene.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
