Tourist presumed drowned at Umhlanga Rocks beach

Search and rescue efforts are underway for a tourist who is presumed to have drowned at a beach north of Bronze Beach, in Umhlanga Rocks.
It is believed the man and his wife had been visiting the city and went for a swim. Tragedy struck at around 9am this morning.
Netcare 911's Shawn Herbst says he had been in the water with his wife before he disappeared beneath the water.
"He is presumed drowned due to the length of time he has been submerged", he said.
"Netcare 911, Umhlanga lifeguards, Metro police Search and Rescue, NSRI as well as SAPS Search and Rescue units are on scene in a joint effort to locate and recover the body", Herbst said
