Robert McKenzie speaks for the provincial Emergency Medical Services.

"A reminder that children must not be left unsupervised while swimming. Please do not enter the water - even shallow water - if you cannot swim. You can easily be swept away into deeper waters and get into trouble quickly. Unless you are a confident swimmer, please do not try and rescue somebody who gets into difficulty in the water as would-be rescuers become victims themselves."
