Taxi operator hurt in Tongaat shooting

One of its members, Bhekukwenza Msomi was attacked by gunmen near a taxi rank in the area on Wednesday.

The association's Gobi Chamane says this is not the first time they have been targeted."Our association has seen a number of similar incidents. This is the second attack we have experienced in the space of a year. Some members are attacked in public spaces, while attending meetings or in their homes. Some are killed and others have survived."

Chamane says they have not yet reached Msomi and have not heard how he is doing.The police's Thulani Zwane says no arrests have been made yet.
"Officers are investigating a case of attempted murder after a 42-year-old man was shot and wounded. The incident happened Wednesday at about 7.30pm."
