Taxi driver in fatal Newlands crash gets bail
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
The taxi driver accused of killing three schoolgirls in Newlands East last Wednesday has been granted bail.
33-year-old Siboniso Zwane was arrested after ploughing into four girls who were on their way to school.
The fourth was seriously injured.
Zwane's application for bail in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court was not opposed by the state today.
The court heard this was because he had, since his last appearance, provided an alternative address of his parents in Tongaat which police had managed to successfully verify.
He has been granted bail of R3000 and ordered to report to Tongaat SAPS every Wednesday until the matter is finalised.

In the meantime, he is not allowed to nor is he allowed to communicate with any of the State witnesses, nor is he allowed to enter the Ntuzuma Magisterial District.
The case is due back in court in early May.
