Richmond hit by another fatal shooting incident

There's been another fatal shooting incident in Richmond, in the KZN Midlands, involving a senior municipal staff member.

The Richmond Local Municipality and police have both confirmed that deputy mayor, Thandazile Phoswa sustained a fatal gunshot wound at her home in the Endaleni area in the early hours of this morning.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are not fully known at this stage. Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says officers are at the scene.

"At this stage, the members are still busy at the scene. It is still unknown what charge will be opened because the circumstances are still being investigated," she said.
Richmond spokesperson, Sibonelo Bhengu says the whole community is in shock. He says Phoswa was still busy at work yesterday afternoon.

Phoswa's death comes soon after municipal manager Sibusiso Sithole was gunned down in Victoria Street last month.
"Yesterday, at around 2pm until 5pm, we were having a meeting with the community. They were raising issues with cases which have been happening in Richmond - some of which were not followed," he said.
