Residents are marching from the local clinic in the Ndaleni area to Richmond Police Station.

Police have come under fire since Sibusiso Sithole was gunned down on Monday.

Angry and frustrated residents have come out in their numbers today - with at least 300 people taking to the streets.

They're accusing police of not doing enough to protect them. Protesters say the fact that Sithole was shot dead within metres of the Richmond police station - but no arrests have been made - is evidence enough of this.

Earlier, women lined the streets near the clinic where the march got underway.

March organiser - Bheki Jili - feels it's time the police started acting like police.

"The police station does not have facilities. The vans - they are not there. And even the staff working there - they're not providing service to the community. There are lots of massacres that have happened in Richmond - even before 1994 - but we see this is still happening," he said.

Newswatch has received reports that some police vehicles in the area have been stoned - but authorities on the ground are yet to confirm this.
