The committee is due to finalise and adopt its report, which recommends Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane to fill Madonsela's shoes when her term ends in October.

The committee will then table the report to the National Assembly before it is considered on Wednesday, September 7, according to the parliamentary programme.

In their last meeting, political parties including the ANC, EFF, IFP and NFP endorsed Mkhwebane to be the recommended candidate, while the DA reserved its comment on the issue.

Speaking following the last meeting, committee chairperson Dr Makhosi Khoza expressed confidence that they would get the necessary 60% of votes to carry their nomination, despite reservations from the DA.

Meanwhile, today the basic education committee is expected to get an update on the current situation in Vuwani, Limpopo, following unrest which led to schools being closed in the area.

Parliament will on Thursday also pay tribute to former sports minister Makhenkesi Stofile, who died on August 15.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa is also expected to answer questions in the National Assembly on the establishment of the proposed co-investment fund to assist start-up businesses, as well as steps he plans to take to ensure Cabinet members attended oral question sessions in the National Assembly.

The leader of business might also have to dodge questions on the public spat between Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and the Hawks which has hogged media headlines for yet another week.
