KZN police say they're in the early stages of the investigation - and are yet to establish the motive for yesterday's deadly shooting at a block of flats in the Durban CBD.
A neighbour has been speaking to the media about the metro officer who lived in the flat.
"He was friendly but at times - short-tempered. Whenever he was drunk - there'd be arguments."
Two women and the 39-year-old officer from Albert Park Police Station were declared dead at the officer's flat.
"In their initial investigation, they found three bodies with gunshot wounds. Five people were seriously injured - that's three females and two males. They were rushed to hospital for medical attention," Mbele said.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate's also investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Metro Police spokesperson Parboo Sewpersadh says right now, they can't say who pulled the trigger.
"I cannot disclose his name - as yet because his next of kin has not been informed. We are waiting for the South African Police Service and the IPID to give us information on who they interviewed. We are also waiting for a preliminary report. One of our me in blue is one of the deceased - our condolences go out to his family."
