UPDATE: Three people confirmed dead following #DurbanShooting

EMERGENCY SERVICES ON THE SCENE OF A MASS SHOOTING IN THE DURBAN CBD HAVE REVISED THE DEATH TOLL FROM FOUR DOWN TO THREE. INITIAL REPORTS WERE THAT TWO MEN AND TWO WOMEN HAD SUSTAINED FATAL GUNSHOT WOUNDS. MEDICS NOW SAY TWO MEN AND A WOMAN DIED AT THE SCENE.

Three people have been killed and several others hurt in a mass shooting in the Durban CBD.

Details are still sketchy at the moment, but it is understood that two men and two women sustained fatal injuries.

Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says paramedics were called out to J.N. Singh Street, formerly Baker Street, to treat the survivors.

"Upon arrival, we found multiple people had been shot. Four people, including two men and two women, have died. Three others sustained critical injuries," said Jamieson.

"Advanced life support paramedics are working on the injured, as we speak."

Jamieson says they will then be taken to hospital for further care.

Police are at the scene.
