Police hunt for Umbumbulu gunmen

Police
are still searching for two suspects who escaped during a shootout with
officers in Umbumbulu, south of Durban.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Jay Naicker says members had gone to the home of a murder suspect when they came under fire.

“When the police officers entered the premises, it is alleged that the suspects started shooting at them. The suspect who was wanted for murder was shot and wounded,” said Naicker.
“Two others managed to escape the scene during the shootout. The wounded man was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and a homemade firearm.”

Police
believe the murder suspect was involved in the killing of a motorist at the
Isipingo taxi rank in June.
