Mohamed Ebrahim has told the Durban Magistrate's Court he didn’t murder the ten-year-old child and didn't have any reason to.

The 43-year-old's bail hearing is currently under way - after he was re-arrested on the murder charge last week.

He was initially arrested a few days after Miguel disappeared and was found in possession of the boy's ID document and those of his mother and sibling.

Miguel was seen on CCTV footage with Mohamed Ebrahim inside a local fast-food outlet on the day of his disappearance in mid-July.

The child's body was found in Phoenix two months later.

Testifying in his bail application, Mohamed Ebrahim told the court he'd been staying at Miguel’s house on the day the child went missing.

He says while busy with maintenance at the house - he came across upon the ID documents of Raylene and her two children. He says he picked them up and put them in his pocket for safekeeping.

Ebrahim says while returning to his home in Phoenix - he ran into Miguel at a traffic light. He says he took the child to a fast-food outlet and bought him food  - as there had apparently been none at Miguel's home.

Ebrahim says he boarded a taxi to town and believed Miguel had walked back home.
