Man's body recovered from uShaka beach

Police have opened an inquest docket after a man's body was found floating in the water near uShaka beach in Durban.

Bluff photographer, Warren Dick had been taking photos of the sunrise when he saw some police activity on the sand.

"Shortly before sunrise we saw a Metro Police vehicle approaching us on the beach," he said.

Dick says another person at the beach told them there was a body in the water, not from the pier.

"There was a whole bunch of young guys on the beach and they actually went to assist with carrying the body, in a body bag, closer up to uShaka where the police vehicles were parked.

KwaZulu-Natal police confirmed the incident, saying Point SAPS are investigating after the SAPS and Durban Metro Police Search and Rescue Unit recovered the body of a man, believed to be in his thirties, from the water.
