KZN police launch programme to curb violent crime

A police
operation aimed at curbing violent crimes in KwaZulu-Natal has been launched in
Durban.
The Stabilisation Operation will target serious offences including, murder, rape, hijackings and cash-in-transit robberies.
Provincial
Commissioner, Khombinkosi Jula says the province also has a wider problem of
drugs and illegal alcohol distribution points.

He says most of these crimes stem from unresolved inter-generational social ills.
“There are still certain conditions that exist that are rising from society, which are social issues coming from families themselves,” said Jula.

“Some of this could be happening because we as police and the security agencies are not always getting informed on time about criminality.”
“In certain instances, we [also] need to step-up our how we respond to those activities,” Jula continued.
