#KessieNair says case against him a 'waste of state resources'

Convicted fraudster Kessie Nair - who was arrested after calling President Cyril Ramaphosa the K-word - says the charges he’s facing are ‘silly and not of a serious nature’.

The Hawks swooped on Nair last month after a Facebook video in which he lambasted the president went viral.

He’s facing several counts of crimen injuria. Nair is currently applying for bail in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court, north of Durban. The State is opposing the application.

In a lengthy second affidavit that was handed up today, Nair slammed the investigating officer in his case - labelling him dishonest and a police officer who is claiming to be a psychiatrist.

This after the cop said Nair was a danger to himself and his family. He's described the charges levelled against him as trivial and the equivalent to urinating in public.

He adds it's a waste of state resources for the Hawks to investigate these kinds of matters. He also claims those involved are trying to carry favour with the president and further their own careers. The application continues.
