Her family confirmed the tragic news to Newswatch.

Conabeer was last seen exactly three weeks ago when she left her Florida Road flat.

She told her friends she was going home to Inanda, north of Durban to see her mother.

The 23-year-old was found dumped outside her Inanda home on Saturday. She was rushed to ICU, while police opened a case of kidnapping.

Conabeer's best friend, Zamambo Mkhize says she died this morning.

Meanwhile, the University of KwaZulu-Natal has suspended its academic programme for the day.

The varsity released a statement earlier saying the move was to stand in solidarity and support of the fight against gender-based violence.

Classes are expected to resume tomorrow.

** This article has been edited to reflect that Natasha Conabeer was not in fact a student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, as previously reflected. UKZN released a statement saying that Conabeer had applied to study at the institution in 2014, but never formally registered.
