UKZN suspends academic calendar

The
University of KwaZulu-Natal has suspended its academic programme for the day.
The university issued a short statement saying management took the decision in a stance against gender-based violence.
“University management have taken this decision to show support and stand in solidarity with the nation as we express a zero-tolerance stance to gender-based violence in our society,” read the statement.

UKZN says the academic programme will resume tomorrow - Tuesday, 10 September 2019.
The decision comes as missing UKZN student, Natasha Conabeer receives treatment in ICU.
The 23-year-old was found in a bad condition yesterday.
She had been missing for about three weeks.
Conabeer was last seen by her friends leaving her Florida Road flat.
She had told them she was going to her family’s home in Inanda, north of Durban.
However, her family made a desperate plea for her safe return when she did not arrive there.
A family spokesperson confirmed yesterday that she had been found, but is receiving care in hospital.
