Conabeer’s mother and family made a desperate plea for her safe return recently.

She was last seen by friends leaving her Florida Road home flat in Durban some three weeks ago.

Conabeer had told her friends she was going back to her family’s home in Inanda, north of the city.

However, the family raised the alarm when she never arrived there.

Conabeer’s disappearance comes at a time when South Africans across the country are calling for a greater effort to end crimes targeting women and children.

Numerous cases of rape, murder, sexual assault and kidnappings, among other crimes, have been reported across the country in recent weeks.

Thousands of people marched in various parts of the country over the past week – including along the Durban beachfront this weekend.

People had also been encouraged to wear black to raise awareness about femicide, sexual assault, rape and kidnappings and to push authorities to take stronger action against perpetrators.
