Classmates say Clairwood boys were good, respectable

School pupils from Clairwood say the recent kidnapping and murders of best friends, Luyanda Msomi and Njabulo Mankayi has left them shaken.

We felt sad, frightened and scared. We were writing exams and no one could write," one learner says. 

This learner from Clairwood Boys Primary says the 10-year-olds were inseparable.

"They were good, respectable boys. They were always together - they were best friends. I would see them together - the two of them playing together," he says. 


Pupils and community members gathered outside the Durban Magistrate's Court yesterday where suspects Amahle Maliwa, Liziwe Ngwayishe and traditional healer, Ali Yusuf were denied bail.  

The three face charges of murder, kidnapping and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Little Njabulo’s body was pulled from a canal in the Durban Harbour last week after Luyanda's body was found in Montclair.
