Bomb squad called out to Durban CBD

The Hawks are working to establish if a suspicious device found in a Durban CBD store was a bomb.

Spokesperson, Hangwani Mulaudzi says the device was discovered in a Woolworths shop.
"We got information that a device was found inside a shop. Out Bomb Disposal Unit was dispatched and they managed to defuse the device," he said.
Several devices have been found in and around the city in recent weeks.

Mulaudzi says the latest discovery will form part of their ongoing investigation.Several devices have been found in and around the city in recent weeks.
A number of hoaxes have also been reported to police during this period.

Mulaudzi says Thursday's discovery was defused according to procedural requirements.
Woolworths has confirmed its Dr Pixley KaSeme Street store was evacuated as a precautionary measure following the discovery of the device.
