While police say a suspicious parcel was found and examined, they insist it was not a bomb.

Multiple sources have also told Newswatch a device was discovered at the store and that it was detonated by the Bomb Squad.

The sources say a young boy allegedly arrived at the store and handed the manager an envelope containing a handwritten note.

The note apparently demanded that an amount of money be placed inside a bag and left outside the store - threatening that a bomb would explode if the money was not handed over.

The boy apparently claims not to know the man who gave him the message.

The police were dispatched, along with the Bomb Squad, and a black plastic parcel was found at the entrance near the tills.

Newswatch has been told that the parcel did contain a device of sorts but that it was different to the ones discovered in Durban last week.

Regardless of the contents, sources say the parcel was subject to a controlled detonation, but that police do not believe this incident is linked to last week's discoveries.

National police spokesperson Vish Naidoo could not confirm these allegations, but maintains the parcel was negative.
