Bayview rape suspect a ‘respected’ member of the community

Mothers of the little girls who were allegedly raped and
sexually assaulted by a Bayview man say they believed he was a respected member
of the community.
The 40-year-old man appeared in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s
Court, south of Durban yesterday.

The State confirmed that seven girls have now come forward,
claiming the man had attacked them.
He was arrested in May after an 8-year-old girl from the
Emanyenleni informal settlement alerted her mother.

One of the mothers of the little girls told Newswatch outside court that her child used to play with the accused’s own children at his home because he had a big playroom.
