He's one of South Africa's most popular rappers, but AKA will soon be hanging up his mic to pursue other interests.

The 'Baddest' rapper has revealed that his upcoming album, 'Touch My Blood', will be his final album for a while.

"REAL TALK tho. It's by far my best album. Might even be my last one," he tweeted on Sunday.

AKA's management team has confirmed the news, and says he will be focusing on other projects.

"Yup. This is it. This is his last album. He wants to do other things with his life beyond music. He is a father and a businessman. He has a company to run and he will be focusing on that and other projects. He will always be AKA and will dip in and out of music," his manager Tshiamo Letswene told TshisaLIVE.

The 30-year-old is taking his role as a businessman seriously.

He officially parted ways with his management company Vth Season last year after setting up his own business, BEAM Group.

"The process of establishing BEAM from scratch has not been easy, but has been liberating as I have a great business team to lean on. Thus BEAM's focus is not just music, as my ultimate aim is to be a multi-investor, with success in different industries," he said in a 2017 statement.

AKA won't be saying goodbye to music for good, and his fans can still expect him to make appearances on the music scene.

His new album is expected to drop in May, and will be one of his most personal offerings to date.

"It's called 'Touch My Blood' because I want people to understand my growth and to feel what kind of trials and tribulations I have been through. I also wanted people to feel and connect with the music. My happiness and growth will really come through in the music," he told Huffington Post SA in an interview late last year.

AKA's track 'Sweet Fire', one of the lead singles off his new album, is climbing up the Coca-Cola Top 40.

It's currently at number five on the chart.
