Dua Lipa is opening up about how she wrote her chart-topping song, 'Dance the Night'.

The British singer received her first-ever Golden Globes nomination for the 'Barbie' movie song this week.

She was nominated in the 'Best Original Song - Motion Picture' category alongside Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and Caroline Ailin.

The award is given annually to songwriters. 'Dance the Night' is up against two other songs from the 'Barbie' soundtrack.

'What Was I Made For', which is written and performed by Billie Eilish, also got a nod. Her brother, Finneas O'Connell, is also listed as a co-writer.

The siblings won their first Golden Globe award in the category in 2022 for their James Bond song, 'No Time To Die'.

Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt are also nominated for 'I'm Just Ken', which was performed by actor Ryan Gosling

"Wow waking up a Golden Globe nomineeeeeee!!! This barbie is so grateful! Speaking to TheWrap in a new interview, Dua revealed how she worked on the song, which was played during a "big dance moment" in the film.

"It’s very different when you’re writing to picture. Mark likened it to writing a score. There were certain moments where Barbie would be dancing, and she'd be pointing to the crown, and I was like, "We have to hear it, we have to say come along for the ride,'" she said.

Dua added that they were "leading and leaning" into the visuals of the film to create a meaningful song for the scene.

"We had whiteboards all over the room, and post-it notes, and [an] intense brainstorming session on how to make this feel very modern yet nostalgic."
