Mom cries after giving birth to "ugly" baby
Updated | By Lifestyle Reporter
Relatable or mean-spirited? Social media users react to a new mom's shocking confession.

The moment moms hold their newborn babies for the first time after a delivery is an emotional experience. It's a feeling you can't fully describe but feel in the depths of your soul.
Oftentimes, it brings moms to tears.
However, a mother in the UK had tears streaming down her face for a very different reason. She was crying because she thought her baby was ugly!
If we're honest, just about every baby looks like an alien with a conehead when they are fresh out of the oven – but no mother has dared call the child they carried for nine months ugly.
So, you can imagine the outrage a TikTok user named Jess sparked when she made the shocking confession.
"I literally stared at him and cried cause I thought he was so ugly while I was in shock after labour," the 20-year-old said.
However, the new mom came around a short while later.
"I thought he was cute after a few hours. Don't come for me," she wrote.
Jess also asked: "Was it the hormones [or] did I have the cutest newborn?!"
Unsurprisingly, the post went viral with more than one million views. Many didn't even bother answering the question.
They were too stunned by her admission.
"Baby’s first bully," one woman commented.
Another TikToker said, "I think this is actually so cruel."
A third added: "I had a traumatic birth with lots of meds involved, and not once did I look at my son and think about how he looked."
However, some saw the lighter side of the post, praising Jess for having a sense of humour about the whole thing.
"The ppl hating… all newborns look like squishy potatoes right after birth. There's rarely ANY cute ones," one person wrote.
"Normalise not finding your newborns adorable 🤣🤣💙."

According to the Mayo Clinic, "most new moms experience postpartum 'baby blues' after childbirth... Baby blues usually begin within the first 2 to 3 days after delivery and may last for up to two weeks".
Some women experience mood swings, sadness, crying, and irritability.
Don't be afraid to speak to someone to ask for help if you are feeling overwhelmed.
If the symptoms get worse, you should see a doctor for further help.
