We are definitely living in a world of adaptation and evolution. Whether it is in the world of food, fashion or shopping, it can be firmly said that things are no longer just part of ticking one of two option boxes.

They are varied and far between...

One of the things that can be sensitive for many people, is ticking the right food boxes. Especially at special occasions or functions. Vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, pescatarian, etc...

As a guest to a special occasion, especially weddings, there has got to be more attention given to the catering. Where some hosts go over and above when it comes to specialising dishes for their guests, others don't really pay much attention to detail.

We saw a post with a certain amount of mixed emotion. Where a guest didn't really appreciate the 'effort' gone into the vegan option at a wedding. And the commentator, well, let's just say it sounded like their response came from an emotional place...

Uh, we think that this should not even be considered a vegan option... A few pieces of Spanspek and some Rocket with a balsamic dressing... Uh, no! That's just not acceptable.

Many people came to the above post and defended the couple, and felt like the blame should go on the venue. We think that there is a huge misunderstanding when it comes to what the differences are when it comes to veganism and vegetarianism and the like.

More than that, caterers need to start being more inclusive of the variety of special dietary requirements that many people's lifestyles revolve around nowadays. There is a peak in gluten-free diets, dairy-free diets, and meat-free diets...

So getting with the times is imperative. That's the thing about evolution, if you don't move with the times then you get left behind. The above dish may taste amazing, but is it something that regular diners will find appealing, or is this more for a test kitchen?
