Heir to Hermès set to leave his fortune to former gardener

Can you imagine being adopted by your mega rich ex-boss and inheriting his fortunes? Sounds like something from a telenovela.

It is not surprising that the people who seemingly have it all in life actually don't have it all.

This could be said of Nicolas Puech, an heir to the legendary Hermès fashion house.

The 81-year-old is unmarried and doesn't have any children. He also ranks among Switzerland’s wealthiest individuals with a net worth estimated between $10.3 billion and 11.4 billion.

But sometimes with all the money in the world, you can still be missing something.

In Puech's case, it is the lack of family. This has caused him to look into adopting his ex-gardener so that he can have someone as his heir.

"He recently stunned the world by announcing his intention to legally adopt his former gardener and leave him his $11 billion (R 203 835 500 000,00) fortune." (Oddity Central)

The former gardener is married and has two kids. But it seems adopting an adult in Switzerland is much harder than adopting a kid.

"Apparently, such adoptions demand a prior relationship during the adoptee’s minor years, which in this case may prove challenging to prove.

If the 51-year-old gardener ends up becoming Puech sole heir, he stands to inherit “at least half” of the scion’s fortune, which includes 5.7 percent of Hermès, as well as substantial properties in Marrakesh, Morocco, and Montreux, Switzerland valued at several millions of dollars." (Oddity Central)

It all sounds super absurd to us, but then again perhaps he had a special bond with the gardener. It is a great reminder that you should never take family for granted.
