During the Festive Season, we saw hordes of police at key areas in and around Durban.

Basically making sure that people don't break the law and respect each other whilst being out and about.

But now that things have died down, and we proceed to end the first month of the new year, we would think that the festive mood would have died down, right?

However, it seems that was not the case for everyone.

A truck driver who was seen enjoying a few drinks at the beachfront has some explaining to do.

"It is alleged that the driver and a friend were caught consuming alcohol on the beachfront. And managed to ram his vehicle into several cars, parked along the Durban beachfront." (IOL)

According to the authorities, the metro police had approached the truck and began removing the alcohol from the vehicle.

But whilst doing so, the driver thought he was in a getaway scene, and attempted to drive off.

Instead, he crashed into several cars that were parked nearby.

"Metro Police confirmed that the man was charged for drunken driving, as well as reckless and negligent driving." (IOL)

The moral of the story besides not drinking in public, or whilst driving, is simple: Things can always get worse when alcohol is involved...
