The public pool, which used to be a popular attraction among locals and visitors along Durban's Lower Marine Parade, has been left in a state of disarray.

The eThekwini Municipality says the contractor hired for repairs has already started working.

Spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela says, for now, bathers can make use of the city's other pools.

"In the meantime, the public can use the South Beach paddling pool and the Kings Park indoor and outdoor pools. But also, we have got about 22 pools that are opened for public usage all over the city."

Mayisela says the city has appointed a contractor to repair the children's amusement centre pool, which is also on the Durban beachfront.
