If Zuma's future was in your hands, what would it look like?

Although a lot of 'constructive discussions' are being held, the future of our President is still unknown. Given a choice on what should happen, Damon wants to hear your views and has called on a Political Analyst to get her thoughts on the matter.

There’s almost a sense of uneasiness in the country at the moment. Maybe not even uneasiness, but confusion and instability.

After this year's SONA was postponed until further notice, and then the meeting of the ANC NEC was postponed to the 17th of February, many cannot help but speculate what the future of Jacob Zuma looks like.

According to Newswatch, the current President of the ANC, Cyril Ramaphosa, released a statement saying that he is currently in 'constructive discussions' and he will communicate what is happening once all matters have been finalised.

There is also talk that there is an exit plan for Zuma, but there’s nothing that seems to be happening. No official statements, nothing. It is clear though that there are internal battles that are taking place within the official party. It’s almost as though everything is in limbo.

Just this morning, I read an article published by eNCA saying that Zuma has told the ANC top six that he is staying put and will not be forced into resigning, despite a lot of time spent persuading him to step down.

All that South Africans want is clarity. To be clear on the dealings of government officials and to know what is going on with Zuma. There are a list of charges against him and South Africans are ready for change, but in saying that, how do we move forward knowing all the reports of corruption that took place?

Listen, there are two ways to look at it. Would you rather have Zuma resign right now, leave the country alone, but never face charges for corruption or allow him to serve out the remainder of his term until the 2019 elections, then face charges in the Supreme Court?

For me, I'd rather have him step down today and for us as a country to move on. I am so tired of reading all the corruption headlines in the newspapers and I think we are ready for a change. It's been too long. Even if he does serve the remainder of his term and goes to court, who knows how long the case will go on for?

It's time that we claim our country as our own again. What are your thoughts?
