Zuma administration has cost the SA economy: Analyst
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
An economist says he believes the Zuma administration has destroyed financial controls in almost every single government department.
Economist Iraj Abedian has been speaking ahead of this month's budget speech.
"Not only has the Zuma administration looted hundreds of billions that we are yet to quantify, the real damage for me is this - the supply chain has been corrupted beyond repair. What we need to do is to rebuild what took 12 years to build," he says.
Abedian says the president should be held accountable for the turmoil at SARS.
He says corporate shenanigans are to blame for tax concession for illegal activities and illicit financial flows. But he says things can be fixed.
"Can the Zuma made inefficiencies of tax predictions be corrected - yes - within the six to twelve months. If you put the right people in there you will get it right," he says.
