Carvin Goldstone captures 'Omunye' bringing SA together

'This song should be our new national anthem,' said one Facebook user after seeing this video shot by Durban comedian Carvin Goldstone.

Isn’t it incredible how far we’ve come as a country?

Sunday marked the day back in 1990 that shaped South Africa's political future as Nelson Mandela took his first steps as a free man after spending 27 years in jail.

Today, the ANC is holding its urgent NEC meeting and the party’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, has promised they will finalise talks around President Jacob Zuma’s future. South Africa could possibly be on the brink of another big revolution.

In a country that is still so divided at times, for the most part we are also so incredible together, but what is it that brings us together? By the looks of it, it's music.

Durban comedian Carvin Goldstone was out at sea for a cruise when he captured a truly heartwarming video of South Africa pulling together. The video has received close to 50,000 views.

In the video, you can see people of all races and cultures dancing to the hit 'Omunye' by the Distruction Boyz, and it seems that people can't seem to get enough of the track.

The video sparked conversation, as many broke it down to the song, irrespective of their race or culture.

'I see black, brown and white faces having a good time! This is how life should be,' says Facebook user Gift Maqungo. I couldn't agree more.

It seems 'Omunye' could be responsible for bringing us together, rather than dividing us as a nation.

I caught up with Carvin for a chat about the footage he captured. Listen as he shares his thoughts and relives the moment with me in the podcast below:
