Ramaphosa confirms NEC meeting to finalise Zuma's future

ANC president, Cyril Ramaphosa says the ANC leadership will be finalising talks about President Jacob Zuma's future today.

"Our approach as we handle this transition will be meeting to discuss this very matter because our people want this matter to be finalised. The National Executive Committee will be doing precisely that," he says.

Ramaphosa has been speaking at the Nelson Mandela centenary celebration in Cape Town.  

He says they need to tap into Madiba's values to find a solution to the party's leadership dilemma.

"It's about embracing the principles that Mandela had embraced - ridding our country of corruption and theft and all the negative things," he says.

Yesterday's event also marked the 28th anniversary of former president, Mandela's release from prison.  

Ramaphosa addressed the crowd at the Grand Parade from the exact spot and at the exact time that Madiba made his first speech, hours after he was freed.

Meanwhile, supporters of the "Zuma Must Go" movement are planning on marching to the Union Buildings in Pretoria today.

They are also calling for a national shutdown until the president leaves office.   

The SACP and ANC in Gauteng have distanced themselves from the planned demonstration saying they aren't linked to the protest in any way.
