Under the light of the moon (and a handheld torch), a fisherman and his friend’s peaceful night on the river took a terrifying turn.

They shared their unexpected encounter with a massive anaconda online. Taking to TikTok, @Kevin11X posted a short clip of their harrowing experience.

The duo travelled along a murky river in a small boat using a torch to light their way. In the distance, a large creature can be seen popping out of the water...

The closer they got to it, the terrifying size of the creature became more apparent. The fishermen got their boat as close to the snake as possible before realising it might be dead.

Still, they took their time to look at the limbless creature, showing us every angle they could. Its dramatic size is guaranteed to give anyone the heebie jeebies!

As the men moved away from the anaconda, they lifted a large net out of the water. Commenters believe the snake may have become caught in it, resulting in its death. What do you think?

The video contains strong language and can be viewed on TikTok here.

According to National Geographic, the largest snake in the world is the green anaconda. This takes both its weight and length into consideration.

These slithery creatures can grow up to nine metres in length and weigh up to a whopping 227 kilograms.
