WATCH: Man points fake gun at two female police officers

South Africa has some strict rules and regulations when it comes to carrying toy guns...

Police say the man seen in a viral video waving a gun at police is mentally unstable and the “firearm” is fake.

It is illegal to carry a toy gun, especially if it poses as a threat to other people around it or instills fear in them.

A man was taken in for mental observation after he was found with a toy gun which he had been using to scare people.

He pointed the toy gun towards two female members of the South African Police Service.

In the video, the two policewomen are seen trying to catch him and stop him before he causes harm to himself or people around him.

According to IOL, police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello stated that the two female police officers had noticed a man walking past the police station in Carltonville, Gauteng.

“The perpetrator had been carrying a firearm. Upon approaching him, the members realised that it's a toy gun of which they tried to disarm him as it may appear to others as a real firearm,” says Colonel Sello.
