Man gunned down in front of family at Umhlanga pier

A man has been shot dead at Umhlanga Beach in Durban.
The 36-year-old was at the whale bone pier with his family.
Detectives, investigators and forensic services were at the crime scene on Tuesday.
Information Newswatch had received earlier is that an altercation broke out between the victim and another man.
Witnesses told us at the time a fistfight broke out which led to one of the males pulling out a gun and shooting the other man.

He went into cardiac arrested and shortly after, paramedics from Medi Response and Netcare 911 declared him dead at the scene.
Officials broke the news to the victim's mother who was at the scene.
Police combed the scene for details of what occurred.
A woman who takes her daily walk in the area told us she saw the altercation break out and that at that moment, everyone on the pier started running.
