One thing is certain, we cannot prevent flash floods, mud slides or storms, but we can ensure that people and communities are better prepared and more resilient.

Here are some top tips to ensure that you are prepared in case of emergency:

  • Assess the drainage of your home and ensure no drains are blocked
  • Designate a place on higher ground or a safer area that you can go to if you are ever caught in a flood
  • Make a flood plan
  • Check out what your current insurance covers or consider buying flood insurance
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest news, weather predictions, and official reports
  • Be prepared to evacuate if instructed to do so
