Umhlanga's billion Rand hotel is now open for business

The Radisson Blu Hotel has opened its doors.
The Radisson Blu Hotel and apartments opened to the public on Monday, 6 June.
Vivian Reddy, who is the co-developer of the R4.5-billion Oceans development, announced that phase 1 - the 206 key 5-star Radisson Blu Hotel and the 95 apartments - was complete.
The hotel boasts a 600-seater conference and event venue which can be subdivided into smaller sections. The Fire Lake Grill House & Cocktail Bar, which is located on the sixth floor with amazing ocean views, will be an all-day dining facility.
The hotel is across from the upmarket Oceans Mall, which will be home to many international fashion brands.
Among those who attended the opening on Monday were His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, whose late father, King Goodwill Zwelithini, had launched the Radisson hotel over two years ago, Miss South Africa, and the cast of the successful 'Real Housewives of Durban' reality show.
Others who were in attendance were Premier Sihle Zikalala, cabinet ministers, the Mayor of eThekwini, and other leading captains of the leisure industry in South Africa.
