Keri Miller experienced a frightening Sunday night as her dad had a heart attack. We have had an intense past two years with the pandemic resulting in so many deaths and job losses.

We started the morning in studio reflecting on how we are truly feeling right now considering the intense times we are living in.

We are all aware what breathing mindfully can do for you, especially if you are experiencing a stressful moment. So, Keri Miller shared a breathing exercise with all of us for those moments:

Just a side note: If you're pregnant, or have hypertension, please rather DON'T hold your breath. Just take a deep breath in for four counts and then straight away out for four counts.

You can do this breath work ANYWHERE, including at a work desk or even out in a park or at the beach (as long as you can be undisturbed for a couple minutes).

Before starting, sit with your back straight, if you need you can have your back supported by a comfortable chair and place your feet firmly on the floor.

Relax your shoulders away from your ears, relax your jaw, keep your chin parallel to the floor and your hands can be on your legs, palms facing up.

Close your eyes.

Breathe in through your nose while counting to four slowly (in your mind). Feel the air enter your lungs. Then, hold your breath inside while counting slowly to four. Try not to clamp your mouth or nose shut. Simply avoid exhaling for four seconds.

Begin to slowly exhale out of your nose for four seconds (keep your spine straight). Then hold your breath out for the same count of four (if exhaling out of your nose in very uncomfortable you can exhale out of your mouth).

Repeat steps one to four at least five times every day. Enjoy the calm.

Again: If you're pregnant or have hypertension, please rather DON'T hold your breath. Just take a deep breath in for four counts and then out straight away out for four counts.

We truly need to take better care of ourselves - our lives deserve love and intentional care from us. And if that looks like taking a break, then let it be known that you need that break.

Watch Keri Miller's emotional moment earlier this morning as she shared the news with Darren and Sky:

Fortunately, Mr Tony Miller is in hospital recovering and getting better.
