The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) has urged citizens to donate blood amid critically low stock levels.SANBS said that the past couple of months have been dire and they have called on current and potential donors to help replenish blood stocks which currently stand at just 2.2 days and to ensure that there is sufficient supply to all patients when needed. The blood stock level needs to be at 5 days.

The Automobile Association has set up a petition calling for a review of the fuel price. While there was some reprieve for motorists in January, experts are predicting a jump of around R1.30 per litre in February.
The AA said there is an urgent need for a comprehensive, long-term analysis of the components of the fuel price and that all fuel price calculations need to be reviewed to determine if they're still relevant and appropriate to South African conditions.

Proteas opening batsman Janneman Malan has been named ICC Emerging Men's Player of the Year for 2021.
Malan, who scored 715 runs in 17 international matches at an average of 47.66 and a strike rate of 101, notched up two centuries and three half centuries in that time.

Dutch military police said a stowaway was discovered in the wheel section under the front of a freight plane that arrived at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport from South Africa on Sunday. The person survived.
Police said they were investigating the incident but gave no further details and did not name the airline.
