If you're looking for a fabulous new addition to your Heritage Day menu, we've found it...

We are fast approaching Heritage Day, and we have just the thing to add to your starter menu this Braai Day.
It's the perfect mix of all things South African and looks like it packs a punch. South African artist Parusha Naidoo shared an epic recipe for boerewors and chakalaka samoosas.
Naidoo cooked her chakalaka and mixed it with her cooked boerewors, then folded it into her samoosa sheets or par and fried them. She paired it with a blended mango achar sauce, and it sounded like the perfect Heritage snack idea.

Our cuisine is a metaphor to understand how far we have come from apartheid, colonisation, white supremacy and segregation. Look around our prestigious restaurant hubs and it is apparent that ideologically we have not travelled very far at all. It’s easy to find European food and global trends but not the food that most people eat at home.- Parusha Naidoo
Naidoo believes that despite how far we have come as a nation, we have yet to break the confines that our history has placed on us regarding food.
However, the food culture in KwaZulu-Natal tells a different story. We see a well-rounded expression of our mixed cultures that not only embraces our diversity but also supports our growth as a country that holds Ubuntu close to our hearts. Think about kota, vetkoek, bunny chow, crocodile wors, and what about inyama yenhloko.
